Team & Settings

Team Members

Invite team members to collaborate on asset tracking, device management, and geofence monitoring within your Pointeron organization.

Plan requirement

Free and Basic plans support only one user (the organization owner). Upgrade to Pro or Enterprise to invite team members.

Overview

Team members are users who have been granted access to your organization. Each team member has a role that determines what they can see and do within the workspace. You can invite colleagues, field technicians, managers, or clients -- anyone who needs visibility into your tracking operations.

All team member management is done from Settings > Team.

Inviting members

To invite a new team member:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Team in the sidebar.
  2. Click Invite User.
  3. Enter the invitee's name and email address.
  4. Select a role: Admin, Manager, or Member.
  5. Click Send Invitation.

An invitation email is sent automatically to the provided address. The invitation includes a secure link that expires after 7 days. You can resend the invitation at any time from the team management page if it expires.

Tip

You cannot invite someone with the Owner role. Each organization has exactly one owner. To transfer ownership, see Roles & Permissions.

Accepting invitations

When an invitee receives the invitation email, they click the acceptance link and are taken to Pointeron:

  • New users -- They create a password and complete a brief account setup. Once finished, they are placed directly into your organization with their assigned role.
  • Existing users -- If the invitee already has a Pointeron account, they log in and the organization is added to their account. They can switch between organizations from the sidebar.

Access is granted immediately upon acceptance. The new team member appears on your team list with an "Active" status.

Roles

Every team member is assigned one of four roles. Each role defines a specific level of access:

RoleDescription
OwnerFull control over the organization, including billing, subscription management, and the ability to delete the organization. One per organization.
AdminFull operational access. Can manage team members, assets, devices, geofences, API keys, and webhooks. Cannot manage billing or delete the organization.
ManagerCan create, edit, and delete assets, devices, geofences, and alert rules. Can view reports and analytics. Cannot manage team members or API keys.
MemberRead-only access. Can view the live map, assets, geofences, and alert history. Cannot create, edit, or delete any resources.

For a detailed breakdown of every permission, see Roles & Permissions.

Editing members

From the Settings > Team page, click on any team member to manage their account:

  • Change role -- Promote or demote a team member. Only Owners and Admins can change roles. You cannot change the Owner's role without transferring ownership first.
  • Resend invitation -- If a pending invitation has expired or the email was not received, resend it with one click.
  • Remove member -- Revoke a team member's access to the organization. They will no longer see the organization in their sidebar and cannot access any of its data.

Warning

Removing a team member is immediate. They lose access to the organization as soon as you confirm. If they need access again, you must send a new invitation.

Bulk operations

For organizations with larger teams, Pointeron supports bulk actions to save time:

  • Bulk invite -- Invite multiple users at once by entering a list of email addresses separated by commas or newlines. All invitees receive the same role, which you can adjust individually after they accept.
  • Bulk revoke -- Select multiple team members from the list and revoke their access in a single action. A confirmation dialog shows the affected users before proceeding.

Activity tracking

All team member actions are logged in the Activity Audit Log, accessible from the Activity page in the sidebar. The audit trail includes:

  • Who performed the action (user name and email)
  • What action was taken (created asset, modified geofence, deleted device, etc.)
  • When the action occurred (timestamp in organization timezone)
  • Relevant details (asset name, geofence ID, changed fields)

This log is useful for accountability, debugging issues, and understanding who changed what and when. Audit logs are retained for the duration of your subscription.

Note

The Activity Audit Log is available on all plans that support team members (Pro and Enterprise). Advanced audit log filtering and export are available on the Enterprise plan.
