Quick Start

Get up and running with Pointeron in under 5 minutes. This guide walks you through creating an account, adding your first device, and seeing it on the Live Map.

Step 1: Create your account

Head to pointeron.com/auth/register and sign up with your email address. You will receive a verification email -- click the link to activate your account and log in for the first time.

Once you log in, Pointeron will walk you through a short onboarding flow to set up your organization.

Step 2: Choose a plan

During onboarding you will select the plan that fits your needs:

Step 3: Add your first device

Choose how your first device will report its location:

• Mobile Tracker -- This iPhone or Android phone through Pointeron Mobile (Balanced, High Fidelity, or On Demand)
• Find My Item -- Apple AirTags synced via Find My (~15 minute intervals)
• Find My Device -- iPhones, iPads, and Macs via Find My (~15 minute intervals)
• GPS Tracker -- Teltonika, GT06, or H02 hardware trackers (~3 second+ intervals)
• Beacon Tracker -- AirTags/Beacons sold and shipped, managed by Pointeron (~10 second intervals)
• Find My Device/Item -- AirTags/Beacons/Devices managed by Pointeron on dedicated Mac (~10 second intervals)

For a Mobile Tracker, open More > Tracking Settings in Pointeron Mobile and follow Mobile App & Phone Tracking. For other device types, open Devices in the web dashboard, select Add Device, and follow the on-screen instructions. iCloud devices require an Apple ID connection; GPS trackers must point to the Pointeron tracking server.

Step 4: Create an asset and assign the device

Assets are the things you track -- a vehicle, a pet, or any object. If Mobile Tracker setup already created or linked a phone asset, continue to Step 5. Otherwise, go to Assets and click Create Asset:

1. Give it a name (e.g., "Company Van" or "Max the Dog")
2. Choose a category if you have one set up
3. Select the device you just added
4. Set the tracking mode: Trips for vehicles, Points for continuous tracking

Step 5: View your asset on the Live Map

Click Live Map in the sidebar. Your asset will appear on the map as soon as the device reports its first location. The map updates in real time via WebSocket -- no refreshing needed.

Use the asset panel on the left to search, filter, and select assets. Click an asset marker on the map to open its detail panel with status, speed, battery level, and location history.

Step 6: Create your first geofence

Geofences are virtual boundaries that trigger alerts when assets enter or leave an area.

1. Go to Geofences and click Create Geofence
2. Choose a shape: circle, polygon, rectangle, or corridor (RouteGuard)
3. Draw the boundary on the map
4. Name the geofence and configure alert rules (entry, exit, dwell, speed)
5. Save the geofence

Once created, the geofence appears on your Live Map. When an asset crosses the boundary, Pointeron sends a notification based on your alert configuration.
